Women’s Golf Finishes Fourth At LSU Tiger Classic

Two finish in top 10 of individual standings
BATON ROUGE, La. - The No. 22 NC State women's golf team earned a fourth-place finish with Denver out of 15 teams after posting a third round score of 292 for a combined 880 (+16) on Sunday afternoon at the LSU Tiger Classic, held at The University Club.
Duke took the team trophy with an 854 (-10), while Oklahoma State and Arkansas rounded out the top three of the standings with scores of 872 (+8) and 873, in respective order. The Blue Devils' Leona Maguire took medalist honors with a 10-under par 206.
India Clyburn led the team with a fifth-place finish after carding a 72 to finish the weekend with a one-over par 217. Sarah Bae also garnered a top-10 finish as she shot a 75 in the third round to finish one shot behind Clyburn in the individual standings at T8th. This marks Clyburn's fifth top-10 finish this season and is Bae's third.
Naomi Ko fired a one-under 71 to finish in a tie for 22nd with a 222, and Laura Kowohl tied for 40th with a 228 after turning in a final round score of 77. Leonie Bettel finished one stroke back from Kowohl in the tournament standings in T43rd as she posted a two-over par 74 on Sunday, rounding out the top five for the Wolfpack.
"We were definitely grinding it out there on the course as a team. The weather was beautiful and the course conditions were a lot better than we thought it was going to be, but overall it was a great tournament," said Ko.
Cecily Overbey, who competed as an individual in the tournament, bounced back from Friday with a day three total of 75 (+3), shaving four strokes off of her second round. She moved up five spots on the leaderboard to finish in a tie for 85th with a 245.
NC State will return to action next weekend at the Bryan National Collegiate, hosted by Wake Forest and UNC-Greensboro at Bryan Park Golf Course in Greensboro, N.C. The tournament is slated to run March 31-April 2, with 18 holes contested each day.
