
Men’s Swimming and Diving Primed for 2017 NCAA Championships

RALEIGH--The No. 3 NC State men's swimming and diving team is set to compete at the 2017 Men's NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships. The meet, co-hosted by Indiana University-Purdue University at Indianapolis and Indiana Sports Corp., will run March 22-25 inside the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis, Ind.
Last week, the women's team earned its highest finish in program history by taking seventh at the Championship meet. After four days of competition, the Wolfpack Women tallied 194 points, collected 25 All-America honors, broke five school records and two conference records.
Schedule of Events:
The men's competition will be spread over four days. There will be a finals session Wednesday, followed by prelims and finals sessions during the following three days. Prelims each day will begin at 10 a.m. while finals will start at 6 p.m.

Last Time Out
The Wolfpack won its third-straight conference championship title in Atlanta. The team stood atop the podium in seven individual events and four relays, as well as collected 17 All-ACC finishes. The three-peat marks the first time in 35 years the Wolfpack has won three-straight conference championships - the last time it was accomplished was in 1980-82. Ryan Held was named the ACC's Most Valuable Swimmer after sweeping his individual events, 50 and 100 freestyle and 100 butterfly, and participating on four gold medal relays, the 200, 400 and 800 freestyle and the 200 medley relays.
Pack in the Polls
The Wolfpack finished the season at No. 3 in the final CSCAA poll. The team maintained a top-three standing throughout the entire season and received the top nod twice.
2016 NCAA Championships Recap
NC State tied its highest finish in program history after taking fourth at last year's NCAA Championship. Over the span of four days, 12 swimmers tabbed 37 All-America honors and broke 17 school, conference and pool records.
The meet had a memorable conclusion as the Wolfpack won the last event of the final day. Team captured the program's first-ever NCAA title in a relay event and first event title since 2009. The 400 freestyle relay team of Ryan Held, Simonas Bilis, Andreas Schiellerup and Soren Dahl edged out Texas by .04 seconds to set a school, ACC and pool record.
In the overall team standings, Texas, California and Florida finished as the top three schools.
Scouting the Competition
Heading into the Championship, California holds the No. 1 rank while Texas sits at No. 2. Earlier in the season the Wolfpack defeated the Longhorns with a final dual-meet score of 173.5-126.5. Louisville, who finished as the conference runner-ups, finished the season as the No. 10 program on CSCAA's poll.
Meet Notes
—The Wolfpack will enter the meet with four relays seeded in the top-three of competition, including the fastest entry in the 800 free relay.
—The team has potential to collect an impressive amount of All-America honors with 17 individual swims seeded in the top-16 of competition, eight of which are seeded in the top-eight.
—James Brady will represent the team in the platform diving competition, marking the first diver to qualify for the Championships under head dive coach Yahya Radman.
—NC State's NCAA squad is experienced, as all but Brady, Coleman Stewart and Andreas Vazaios have competed previous Championships.
