NC State Wins Four Events to Open Carolina Relays

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The NC State track and field team won four events on the first day of the Carolina Relays to open its outdoor season.
Christopher Garrick led the field athletes, winning the men's high jump after clearing the bar at 6'9.75".
Kimani "KC" Hoffman added a second-place finish in the long jump with a leap of 23'3.50" to begin his outdoor career with the Pack, and Lauren White led the women's jumpers, finishing fourth with a mark of 18'1.50" in the event.
Alyssa Dunn finished second in the shot put with a throw of 45'5.25" to lead the women's throwers.
On the track, NC State won all three events it entered. Rachel Bartolomeo won the 2,000m steeplechase by 17 seconds with a time of 7:10.62.
The NC State men dominated the 3,000m by sweeping the top seven spots in the event. Joe Bistritz and Tim Bason led the way, running unattached to finish first and second with times of 8:19.83 and 8:21.21, respectively. Aaron Thomas took third with a time of 8:24.09 and Edwin Rutto, Zack Langston, Eric Walz and Kyle Christ rounded out the top seven spots.
In the women's event, Giana Frontera picked up the victory with a time of 10:22.09.
