RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State baseball team will make the short commute to Elon Tuesday afternoon for a matchup with the Phoenix. First pitch is slated for 4 p.m. at Latham Park.

NC State enters the matchup with an 8-8 overall record and Elon owns a 7-9 ledger.

Last Time Out
In its last outing, the Wolfpack came up short in a hard fought 11-inning game at Wake Forest in the series finale, 6-5.

Elon also lost in its most recent game, as the Phoenix was defeated by Georgia Southern, 5-1.

The Series
NC State and Elon have met 54 times in the history of the programs with the Wolfpack owning a 41-13 edge in the all-time series.

Last Time Versus Elon
The Wolfpack's offense exploded for a 23-3 victory in the last meeting between the programs on April 12, 2016 at Latham Park in Elon. NC State scored in every inning of that contest with the exception of the third.

NC State plated seven runs in the first inning and never looked back, collecting a season-high 24 hits against the Phoenix. Brett Kinneman led the way for the Pack in that contest with a 4-for-6 performance at the plate, headlined by seven RBI and two runs scored.

Scouting Elon
The Elon Phoenix is 7-9 overall, headlined by a 7-4 record in home games at Latham Park. Georgia Southern took two of three from the Phoenix to take the series in Elon last weekend.

Elon batters have compiled a .239 average at the plate, while opponents have been held to a .234 clip. The Phoenix average 4.25 runs per game and have hit 12 home runs.

On the mound, Phoenix pitchers have logged a 4.11 ERA. Tuesday starter George Kirby is 0-1 on the year with a 4.50 ERA in 16 innings pitched with one start.

First Grand Slam
With NC State trailing Wake Forest, 5-1 and the bases loaded, Will Wilson stepped to the plate and crushed the first pitch of his at-bat over the left field wall for a grand slam to tie the score at five.

It was the freshman's first collegiate grand slam and also the first grand slam of the season for the Wolfpack.

11 & Counting
Wilson's grand slam actually helped to extend his hitting streak to 11 games, the longest of the season for an NC State player.

Pack Defense
The Wolfpack's .981 fielding percentage is the second best in the ACC this season, behind Louisville with a .984 clip. NC State's seven errors are tied for the second fewest in the conference.
