Koon Named ACC Performer of the Week

GREENSBORO, N.C. – After setting the third-fastest time in the NCAA this season and the sixth fastest time in school history in the 3,000m, Rachel Koon has been named the ACC Women's Track Performer of the Week.

Koon competed at the Camel City Invitational and raced in an elite field of college and professional athletes, earning a 23-second PR of 9:09.99. After the conversion from running on a flat track to a banked track, her converted mark of 9:05.32 shot her to third in the NCAA standings and is currently in a position to qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championships.

Koon now has two times ranked in national qualifying position. She ran a 16:04.01 5,000m in the first race of the season at the BU Season Opener. The time is currently ranked 9th in the NCAA.

The Asheville, N.C., native will be back in action this weekend at the Iowa State Classic.
