
Wolfpack Travels to Penn for Quad Meet

RALEIGH, N.C.- The NC State gymnastics team will travel to Philadelphia, Pa., Sunday for its first quad meet of the season. NC State will face off at Penn with Cornell and Bridgeport at 1 p.m. in the historic Palestra.

Pack In The Polls:
Out of the four teams competing, NC State leads the overall rankings, checking in at No. 28. The Pack holds the top scoring average and is ranked in the top-25 in vault, bars and floor. NC State is 21st in vault, 24th in floor and 25th on bars.

Individually, Paris Phillips leads the Pack, checking in at No. 41 on floor. In the all-arounder rankings, Chelsea Knight (39.031) is 51st and Phillips (38.880) checks in at No. 60.

NC State posted a 194.65 against ninth-ranked Southern Utah last weekend. The Wolfpack posted a season-high 49.125 on floor. The team relied on its depth to get some valuable contributions across all four rotations. Freshman Drew Grantham highlighted the meet with her first and the meet's only 9.9 thanks to a strong performance on floor.

Penn enters the meet with a 3-2 record. The Quakers are coming off dual meets where they defeated Yale, but fell to West Chester. Early in the season, Penn downed North Carolina and Cornell at a quad meet. The Quakers posted a season-best of 193.575 in their victory over Yale and are ranked 56th nationally.

Cornell set a season-best 193.525 in its last meet and has posted improvements on their score in every meet this season. Cornell holds victories over Ursinus and SUNY Cortland. The Big Red is ranked 58th in the team standings.

Scouting Bridgeport  Â
Bridgeport enters the weekend with a 7-2 record and is ranked 48th in the team standings – the highest national ranking for any Division II team. Most recently, Bridgeport won a quad meet at Yale with Southern Conn. State and RIC. Bridgeport will open the weekend with a dual against Southern Conn. State Saturday before heading to the quad meet at Penn with Cornell and NC State.
