Pack Rolls Past Rams

RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State men's tennis team bounced back with a 6-1 win over VCU Sunday afternoon at the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center. The Pack won the doubles point and added five singles wins to post the decisive victory. NC State improves to 7-4, while VCU falls to 6-5.
"I think there were some good individual efforts today," head coach Jon Choboy said. "I think we got off to a slow start at No. 1 doubles. However, our energy and intensity was much better once we got into the match. I think there were some positives for sure. I appreciate the team competing the way they did."

NC State won the doubles point for the first time in five matches, as Georgiy Malyshev and Igor Saveljic picked up a 6-1 victory on court three and Michael Ogden and Ivan Saveljic won 6-4 court two to clinch the point.
In singles play, the Pack rolled to three-consecutive straight-set wins, as Alexis Galarneau, Nick Horton and Michael Ogden won matches to clinch the overall match.
Horton's win moves him to 75 career singles wins and up to a tie for eighth in all-time singles wins in program history. He's won three-straight matches, including a win over a nationally ranked opponent in his previous match.
After VCU earned a victory at the top singles spot, Ivan Saveljic won his fifth match of the year with a straight-set win on court six. Malyshev closed out the match, winning in three sets on court five.
