No. 9 NC State Rifle Primed for NCAA Qualifier Match

RALEIGH, N.C. – The ninth-ranked NC State rifle team heads to The Citadel this weekend to compete in its NCAA Qualifier Match, hoping to post a strong score to keep its hopes of advancing to the NCAA Championships active. The Wolfpack's score will be added to its three-match average for the season to determine if it will be among the top eight teams nationally to earn a trip to the NCAA Championships.

Competition is slated to begin at 7:30 a.m. inside the Inuoye Marksmanship Center.

NC State heads into the weekend with a 10-5 overall record, including a 5-3 mark in Great America Rifle Conference (GARC) matches.

In its most recent outing, the Wolfpack broke the program record with a score of 2322 in the smallbore competition to highlight a solid performance at the National Rifle Association Sectional (NRA).

The Pack has had several strong performances in both the smallbore and air rifle competitions recently, but hasn't been able to put together great showings in both guns on the same day. For the NCAA Qualifier, NC State will need to have a great day in each discipline to compile a strong aggregate total to add to the team's season average.
