
Women's Tennis Rolls Past William & Mary, East Tennessee State

RALEIGH – The NC State women's tennis team added two wins to its record after sweeping its doubleheaderon Sunday. The Wolfpack topped William & Mary in the first match and continued the momentum into its second match of the day, defeating East Tennessee State to cap a perfect 4-0 weekend.
The team has won five straight matches and holds an overall record of 8-2.
NC State 6, William & Mary 1
The Wolfpack jumped out to an early lead, grabbing the doubles point by winning in both No. 1 and 2 doubles. The tandem of Martina Frantova and Anna Rogers continued their winning streak, beating the Tribe's duo, 6-2, while Bianca Moldova and Claudia Wiktorin won their match 6-4.
In singles play, NC State rattled off four consecutive wins, with Adriana Reami leading the way. The freshman breezed through her match in No. 4 singles, giving up only two games on her way to a 6-2, 6-0 win over Olivia Thaler. No. 31 Frantova followed suit, beating William & Mary's Ekaterina Stepanova, 6-4, 6-3, in No. 1 singles. The match-clincher came from Rogers' 6-3, 6-4 win in No. 3 singles, taking down Marie Faure. Wiktorin gave the team a 5-0 lead as she took down Lauren Goodman, 6-3, 4-6, 10-4.
William & Mary earned its only point of the day as No. 106 Amanda Rebol fell to the Tribe's Maria Groener, 4-6, 6-4, 7-10, in No. 6 singles. The final point of the match was won by Moldovan, who bounced back from a loss in set one to win the match, 2-6, 6-1, 10-7.
The loss moves William & Mary to a 3-5 record.
NC State 5, East Tennessee State 2
For the seventh consecutive contest, the Wolfpack earned the doubles point. Frantova and Rogers won their seventh straight match of the season with a 6-3 victory over the Bucs' Espana and Markesini. Wiktorin and Moldovan won their match, 6-2, to send NC State into singles play with a 1-0 lead.
East Tennessee tied the match at 1-1 with a win in No. 2 singles as Wiktorin fell 6-1, 6-2 to Espana, but the Wolfpack responded with three straight wins. Reami earned her second singles win of the day with a 6-1, 6-3 win in No. 4 singles while Rogers earn her second win, 6-2, 6-3. No. 31 Frantova found the point the team needed to seal the win, taking down No. 105 Ioanna Markesini, 6-1, 7-6(5).
Tayla Stenta moved the score to 5-1 with a 6-0, 6-2 win in No. 6 singles over Sara Djurdjevic. The Bucs earnedtheir second and final point of the day as Moldovan dropped a tough match to Melissa Esguerra, 6-7(1), 6-2, 6-10.
East Tennessee State moves to a 2-3 season record.

The Wolfpack will take a short hiatus from competition before opening ACC play against the No. 10 Duke Blue Devils on Wednesday, Feb. 22. The match will be held at the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center and is set to begin at5 p.m.
