Vazaios & Haan Earn ACC Weekly Awards

Wolfpack duo honored by ACC following Ohio State Invitational
GREENSBORO, N.C. –  After the No. 5 men finished first and the No. 12 women second at the Ohio State Invitational over the weekend, two from the NC State men's & women's swimming and diving team have been awarded weekly honors, as announced by the league office Tuesday afternoon
Andreas Vazaios was named ACC Men's Swimmer of the Week and Elise Haan was named ACC Women's Swimmer of the Week. Ryan Held was last week's ACC Men's Swimmer of the Week, making it two straight weeks a member of the Wolfpack has won the award.
Vazaios helped NC State place first at the Ohio State Invite, finishing first in the 100 backstroke, 200 butterfly, 200 IM, 400 freestyle relay, 800 freestyle relay and 200 medley relay. He recorded an NCAA 'A' cut of 1:41.07 seconds in the 200 butterfly which currently stands as the fastest time in the country. His times of 2:48.75 seconds and 6:19.60 seconds were NCAA qualifying standard times in the 400 freestyle relay and 800 freestyle relay. NC State's 400 freestyle relay time is also the fastest current time in the nation, as is its time of 1:23.53 seconds in the 200 medley relay. Vazaios contributed 76 points throughout the meet.
Haan played a major role in helping NC State's women earn a second-place finish at the Ohio State Invitational. She was part of winning teams in the 200 freestyle relay, where the team posted an NCAA 'A' cut time of 1:28.52 seconds, and the 200 medley relay. Haan also finished second in the 100 backstroke, fourth in the 200 freestyle, seventh in the 200 backstroke and seventh in the 50 freestyle. She finished with 56 total points over the course of the meet.Â
