Wolfpack seeks first conference road win of the season

RALEIGH – The NC State men's soccer team returns to Atlantic Coast Conference play this weekend when it travels north to take on Syracuse Friday evening. Kickoff between the Wolfpack and Orange is scheduled for 7 p.m. from SU Soccer Stadium with live video coverage provided by ACC Network Extra.

LAST MATCH
NC State (5-4-1, 1-3-0 ACC) picked up its fifth home win of the season Tuesday evening, defeating visiting Belmont by a final score of 3-0.

The Wolfpack dominated the run of play and out-shot the Bruins by a significant 13-1 margin. Ade Taiwo led all players with five shots and he was one of six NC State players to record at least one shot throughout the match.

Tanner Roberts, David Loera, and Taiwo scored the Wolfpack's three goals on Tuesday evening. Junior Simon Blotko freÂquently found teammates with good passes throughout the evening, registering two assists.

STRONG RECORD AT HOME
In six home matches this season, NC State is 5-1-0 and has outscored its opponents 12-6. Of the seven remaining regular-season matches on the schedule, five will be played at Dail Soccer Stadium in Raleigh.

NC State ranks 31st nationally with 17 assists on 14 goals this season. All three of the Wolfpack's goals in the Tuesday evening win over Belmont came via double assists. Freshman David Loera (3) and junior Simon Blotko (3) are currently tied for the team lead.

STRONG DEBUT SEASON
Freshman goalkeeper Leon Krapf is in the midst of a strong debut season for the Wolfpack. The Gochsheim, Germany, native has played all 922 minutes this year and ranks first in the ACC and 27th nationally with four clean sheets. He has made 23 saves on the season and has posted a goals against average (GAA) of 1.26.

FIRST RPI RELEASED
The first RPI report of the 2017 season was released on Oct. 2. NC State checks in at No. 74 on the list and defeated Belmont (119) and plays at Syracuse (93) on Friday.

DEPENDABLE DUVERNAY
Senior left back Caleb Duvernay is one of the four players on the team this season to have played in all 922 possible minÂutes. He is NC State's active career leader in appearances (59) and matches started (57).

-Were ranked as high as No. 7 earlier this season.
-Return five starters from a 2016 team that went 12-4-4 and won one match in the NCAA Tournament.
-Rank 3rd nationally with three red cards earned.
-Rank 24th nationally in corner kicks earned per match (6.25).
-Jonathan Hagman is the leading scorer with five goals on 26 shots.
-Hugo Delhommelle leads the team with six assists.
