RALEIGH – The NC State women's soccer team (12-4-1, 5-3-1 ACC) is set to play its final match of the regular season Thursday when it welcomes Louisville (9-6-2, 3-4-2 ACC) to Dail Soccer Stadium for a 7 p.m. matchup. The contest will be broadcast on the ACC Network Extra and the Wolfpack's senior class will be honored prior to kickoff.
LAST TIME OUT
The Pack captured its fourth straight win over an ACC opponent on Sunday evening when it defeated Virginia Tech 1-0 in double overtime.
In the 102nd minute Paige Griffiths made a long pass to Maxine Blackwood just above the six-yard box, and the junior attacker placed the ball into the right corner of the net. The tally marked her fourth of the season.
REWRITING THE RECORD BOOKS
The team's result in Blacksburg, Va., was its 12th win of the season and fifth over an ACC opponent. It marks the most overall and ACC wins for the program since 1995.
The victory also helped the Pack to secure a spot in the ACC Championship, marking the program's first back-to-back tournament berths since 2003 and '04.
Sydney Wootten continues to prove why she's one of the top goalkeepers in the nation. She currently holds eight shutouts this year, which ranks 19th in the NCAA and fifth among the program for most in a single season. She also currently ranks fifth in the record book for career shutouts with 17.
With the regular season coming to a close Thursday NC State is currently tied for fourth in the ACC standings with 16 points, and is vying for a chance to host the first round of the ACC Championship Sunday afternoon. NC State has never hosted an ACC Championship match at Dail Soccer Stadium.
