CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Led by India Clyburn's three-under par 69, the NC State women's golf team put together a two-under par 286 on Friday afternoon to sit three shots back of the leader in fourth place after the opening round of the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational, hosted by UNC-Chapel Hill.
The Wolfpack's combined score marked a season-best 18-hole performance. Duke leads the field with a score of 283 (-5), while South Carolina (284) and Alabama (285) round out the top three of the team standings.
Clyburn's 69 on the par 72, 6,379 yard Finley Golf Course has put her in a tie for third place individually. Naomi Ko also ranks among the top 15 of the individual standings, as she is in a tie for 13th after posting a one-under 71.
Laura Kowohl and Crystal Huang both shot a 73 (+1) on Friday, sharing a tie for 34th while Cecily Overbey carded a two-over par 74 and is in a tie for 41st overall.
NC State continues competition Saturday at the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational. The Pack will begin play at 9:54 a.m. off hole one, and will be paired with competitors from Arkansas and Louisville.
