Wolfpack Plays at Wake Forest Sunday

RALEIGH – Seeking its third 3-1 start to the ACC schedule in the last four seasons, the No. 29/23 NC State women's basketball team (12-4, 2-1 ACC) returns to action Sunday afternoon at Wake Forest. Tip-off between the Wolfpack and Demon Deacons is set for 2 p.m. from Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Winston-Salem. The game will be broadcast live on Fox Sports South, ACC Network Extra, and this list of network affiliates.

LAST GAME
The No. 29/23 NC State women's basketball team built up an early 23-9 lead over the No. 14/14 Miami Hurricanes but ultimately fell 67-64 Thursday evening on Kay Yow Court inside Reynolds Coliseum. The loss denied the Wolfpack's bid at a historic feat, as NC State was seeking to defeat three straight teams ranked in the top 25 in consecutive games for the first time in program history.

Jennifer Mathurin led the Wolfpack offense with 17 points on 6-13 shooting. She was joined in double figures by 16 points from Miah Spencer, 11 from Chelsea Nelson, and 10 from Dominique Wilson. Miami's Keyonna Hayes (18 points, 10 rebounds) led all players in both scoring and rebounding and was joined in double figures by teammate Adrienne Motley (16 points).

NOTING THE WOLFPACK
-NC State enters Sunday's game the owner of a 12-4 record, a 2-1 mark in ACC play, and the No. 29 (AP) and No. 23 (USA Today) national rankings.

-Wake Forest enters Sunday's game the owner of a 9-5 record which includes an 0-1 mark in ACC play.
-The Demon Deacons own the No. 63 RPI and are 1-4 against teams in the RPI top 100 (won 78-68 at Elon on Nov. 26).
-Led by Amber Campbell's 14.3 points per game, the Demon Deacons boast four players averaging 10.9 points or more. Milan Quinn is the ACC's top rebounder at 10.3 per game.

SERIES HISTORY
-Sunday's game marks the 81st meeting in the series between NC State and Wake Forest, which has its roots in the 1974-75 season.
-NC State holds a 67-13 edge in the series and has won six of the last seven meetings.
-Under head coach Wes Moore, NC State is 5-1 against Wake Forest.
-The teams split last season's meetings 1-1. NC State won 64-47 in Raleigh on Jan. 3 and Wake Forest won 63-58 in Winston-Salem on Feb. 7.

Senior Miah Spencer achieved 1,300 career points during the Dec. 17 game at Tulane. She recorded her 400th assist in the win over No. 2 Notre Dame on Dec. 29, becoming just the fifth player in program history to score 1,300 points and distribute 400 assists.

RACKING UP THE HONORS
On January 2, Dominique Wilson was named the College Sports Madness ACC Player of the Week. Teammate Miah Spencer claimed the official ACC Player of the Week honor a day later, the same day on which NC State was named NCAA Team of the Week. Then, on Jan. 4, Spencer was named to the NCAA's Starting Five of the Week.

STEADY HAND
Redshirt senior Dominique Wilson went a perfect 14-14 from the free throw line in the Jan. 2 win at No. 6/7 Florida State. Incredibly, that was not a career high. Her personal record of FT made in a single game is 15 (of 17) in a game against No. 23/22 Louisville last season.
