
Wolfpack Returns to Action at Bob Pollock Invitational

RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State track and field team is back in action this weekend at Clemson's Bob Pollock Invitational. The Wolfpack will send a full squad to compete at the meet, which features strong competition.
The Pack will continue to search for ACC and national marks, as members of the team aim to book a spot in the postseason. The group will compete at the newly-renovated Clemson Indoor Track & Field Facility, which is considered to be one of the fastest tracks in the country. The facility already boasts 26 marks that are currently in the top 25 of the national standings after hosting two meets.
The Competition:
NC State will line up against 10 other schools, including Clemson (host), Florida State, Johnson C. Smith University, North Carolina A&T, Duke, Georgia Tech, Alabama, Troy, Central Florida and Virginia Tech.
The group features four top-25 teams, including the No. 7 Alabama men, the No. 15 Wolfpack women, the No. 16 Virginia Tech men and the No. 22 Alabama women.
Pack in the Polls:
The NC State women's team debuted in the week one rankings at No. 15 in the USTFCCCA national poll. The Pack currently has four women ranked in national qualifying position, while five more are in the top 50 and several have yet to make a season debut.
Individually, Joshua Davis leads the men's team and is ranked seventh in the weight throw with a school record of 70'5.75", Cravont Charleston is ranked 14th in the 60m dash with a time of 6.68 and Grant Rivers is currently 22nd in the heptathlon after scoring 4,923 points at last weekend's Hokie Invitational.
Erika Kemp (15:56.52) leads the Wolfpack women, checking in at No. 5 in the 5,000m. Rachel Koon (16:04.01), Ryen Frazier (16:27.74) and Alyssa Rudawsky (16:33.66) are all also ranked in the top 15 of the event.
What to Watch For:
Over 40 NC State athletes will be in competition this weekend in a variety of events. During Friday's field events, NC State will face off in the weight throw, long jump and pole vault.
On the track, NC State's sprinters and hurdlers will compete in the 60m, 60m hurdles, and 400m dash, while 10 runners will lineup for mile, while seven are making season debuts.
NC State's field athletes will compete in the shot put, high jump and triple jump Saturday, while the Pack will line up in the 200m, 600m, 800m, 3,000m and 4x400 relay on the track.

NC State had another impressive meet at the VT Invitational. Several athletes reached season highs, while Shannon Patterson broke the 300m school record. NC State also picked up event wins in the men's 300m, men's weight throw, men's high jump, men's heptathlon and women's mile, while finishing as the top collegiate athlete in the men's 60m and men's 200m.
