Wolfpack to face UT Martin and Ole Miss
RALEIGH, N.C. – The ninth-ranked NC State rifle team will head to Murray, Ky., this weekend for matches against No. 19 University of Tennessee at Martin Saturday and No. 13 Ole Miss Sunday. Murray State will host the matches inside the Pat Spurgin Rifle Range.
Â
Competition is slated to begin at 2 p.m. Saturday against the Skyhawks and 9 a.m. Sunday versus the Rebels in a Great America Rifle Conference (GARC) match.
Â
The Wolfpack enters the weekend with a 7-5 overall record and a 4-3 mark in GARC contests.
Â
In NC State's most recent outing, the squad split a pair of matches at Army, defeating the 12th-ranked Black Knights and falling short versus No. 8 Nebraska. The Pack tallied a season-high team score of 2315 in the smallbore competition to own a five-point advantage versus the Cornhuskers, but Nebraska fired a strong air rifle score to win the match.
Â
Graduate student Lauren Phillips and senior Lucas Kozeniesky each enjoyed very strong performances, as they finished first and second in the aggregate competition with scores of 1176 and 1171, respectively.
Â
NC State last traveled to Murray State in January 2014, when the Wolfpack defeated Columbus State but fell short against the host Racers.
