Wolfpack matches program mark for wins in the GARC
MURRAY, Ky. – The ninth-ranked NC State rifle team completed a perfect weekend at Murray State with a Great America Rifle Conference (GARC) win against Ole Miss Sunday afternoon inside the Pat Spurgin Rifle Range.
Â
The Wolfpack finished the match with an aggregate score of 4658 thanks to a 2308 in smallbore and a 2350 in the air rifle competition. Ole Miss recorded a team total of 4653 after firing a 2297 in smallbore and a 2356 in air rifle.
Â
Yesterday the Pack defeated UT Martin, 4659-4562.
Â
NC State moves to 9-5 overall and 5-3 in the GARC. The Wolfpack's fifth win in conference matches the most victories by the program since joining the league.
Â
Miller's Minute
"It's nice to get two wins this weekend, but our scores were not quite where we wanted them to be," said head coach Keith Miller. "Murray State has a nice range and we hoped to bring out one of our top-three scores from the weekend, which would help our NCAA ranking. We're at a solid number nine position now and it's a good ranking, but we're working really hard to get into the top eight and earn an NCAA berth.Â
Â
"At this level every point helps, so we're constantly looking for incremental improvement. We'll rest a bit, polish up on a few things we identified over the past two weekends of matches, and get set for a good match at home on January 29th versus North Georgia."
Â
