Wolfpack Set for Hokie Invitational

RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State track and field team will continue its indoor season Thursday through Saturday at the Hokie Invitational at Rector Fieldhouse in Blacksburg, Va. The Wolfpack will send a big portion of the team, as athletes aims to clinch a spot in the postseason and improve on personal bests.

Current National Marks:
Currently six Wolfpack athletes sit in a national qualifying position. Erika Kemp, Rachel Koon, Ryen Frazier and Alyssa Rudawsky all rank top-14 in the 5,000m. The quartet set the times early in the season at the BU Opener.

Last weekend, Joshua Davis and Cravont Charleston both set nationally-competitive marks. Davis moved from fifth to fourth in the NCAA and set the school record in the weight throw with a toss of 70'5.75" at the Carolina Cup. On his freshman debut, Charleston set the nation's seventh-fastest 60m dash of the season with a 6.68. The mark also ranks third in school history and is just .08 from the school record.

Debuts:
Overall, the Pack will have 27 event debuts and seven season debuts over the weekend. Tannis Baldwin will wear the Wolfpack uniform for the first time on the track and compete will the team for the first time since the 2015 cross country season, lining up in the 1,000m. Kimani "KC" Hoffman is slated for his first action of the season with the long jump and triple jump. True freshmen Beth Taye and Elly Henes will also be in action on the track for the first time, competing in the mile.

The Drive Toward ACCs:
The Pack already has 12 conference qualifying marks from the first few weeks of the season and will look to lock up more spots over the weekend.

What To Watch For:
Thursday will mark Grant Rivers heptathlon season debut. Rivers is currently the school record holder in the event. Rivers will complete the first half of the event on Thursday before finishing the event on Friday. The heptathlon will be the only event in competition Thursday.

Friday's field events will feature Davis, Sharmani Hall and Lauren Evans competing in the weight throw, while Hoffman, Javonne Antoine and Amara Bell will compete in the triple jump for the first time this season.

On the track, the Pack's sprinters and hurdlers will compete in the 60m, 60m hurdles, 300m and 600m. In distance events, Megan Rempel, Baldwin and Bakri Abushouk will return to the track for the 1,000m, while five distance runners will line up for the women's mile and Kyle Christ will compete in the men's 3,000m.

The Pack will compete in the high jump long jump and shot put in Saturday's field events, and the sprinters will line up for the 400m, 200m and 4x400 for the final day on the track.
