Wolfpack chosen preseason top 10
RALEIGH, N.C. – NC State baseball has been picked No. 6 in the D1 Baseball Preseason Poll, announced recently by the organization.
Â
"We're excited as we begin preparing for the upcoming season, facing again one of the toughest schedules in college baseball," said head coach Elliott Avent. "High pre-season rankings reflect the respect our program has earned through its consistency over the past several years, the competitiveness of the ACC, the recruiting efforts of our coaching staff, and the hard work and pride that embodies the players on this year's team."
Â
The Wolfpack is one of seven Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) teams represented in the ranking along with No. 3 Florida State, No. 9 UNC-Chapel Hill, No. 12 Louisville, No. 15 Clemson, No. 17 Virginia and No. 21 Miami.
Â
Additionally, NC State will also play No. 10 East Carolina, No. 22 Maryland and No. 24 UNCW in its non-conference schedule.
Â
The Pack opens the 2017 campaign Friday, Feb. 17, when the squad travels to Honolulu for a three-game series against Hawaii in the first meeting between the programs.
