Lu holds two high school state championship team titles
RALEIGH- The NC State women's golf team has added Christina Lu to its 2016-17 roster, as announced by head coach Page Marsh.
Lu is a native of Yunnan, China, but trained at the Mike Bender Golf Academy in Longwood, Fla., for two years prior to coming to Raleigh. She will enter the season as a freshman on the team.
"Christina will bring her passion and dedication to the game and academics to our team. She is a young woman who is driven to excel at things in her life while also being dedicated in her service work to give back to others," said Marsh. "Her passion for excellence and compassion for others will be a positive asset to our team and university."
Lu attended high school at Lake Mary Preparatory School where she helped the women's golf team to back-to-back 1A High School State Championship titles in 2014 and '15.
She picked up the game in 2012 and has posted strong finishes in various American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) and Premier Junior Golf Tour (PJGT) tournaments in her junior career.
In 2015 she won the Bishops Gate Golf Academy Preseason Junior tournament and holds three other top-six finishes from the season in AJGA events. In 2013 and '14 she collected four top-three finishes as a member of the PJGT, including a first-place finish at the 2014 Junior Open at ChampionsGate.
Lu has also participated in various acts of community service, including preparing and delivering food to those in need around the holidays.
