Cary, N.C.- The NC State women's tennis team wrapped up at the James Bonk Invite on Sunday after three days of competition.
Day Three Highlights
Transfer Alejandra Cisneros was the Wolfpack's only winning player of the day, earning two singles wins. Cisneros was slated to compete against Hunter Bleser (UVA) for the third place title, but Bleser withdrew, giving Cisernos a walkover win. Cisneros then earned her second win of the day after upending Alexis Pereira (TCU) in an extra match, 6-1, 6-2.
Day Three Results
The remaining Wolfpackers, Adriana Reami, Claudia Wiktorin and Anna Rogers, struggled in their matches, each falling to their respective opponents.
Spencer Liang (UF) def. Reami, 6-2, 6-2.
Teodora Radosavljevic (UVA) def. Wiktorin, 6-7(4),6-2,6-4.
Rosie Johanson (UVA) def. Rogers, 6-0,6-4
Simon Says
"We really showed a lot of improvement in our results compared to our showing in this same event last year. That's very positive and motivating for us moving forward.
I expected the doubles to be somewhat shaky on Day 1 as we really haven't focused on this a whole yet up to this point. Whereas in singles all 3 newcomers found their feet quickly which was impressive given that they are still trying to apply a lot of new information.
On day 2 we came out and set the tone much more decisively in doubles but couldn't capitalize on that momentum in singles, still I think it was positive all round. Today we showed some inexperience and we could have done better. The level of intensity from the first 2 days wasn't quite there and that's something everyone has to do a better job with. Overall it's clear that we are moving forward but that this isn't a linear process. We need to be more consistent at the highest level and will go back to the practice courts tomorrow to continue addressing that.
Next up is our home event, the Wolfpack Invitational starting on Friday, and all the girls are extremely excited to experience playing on our home courts ahead of the spring season. Go Pack!!!"
