NC State Returns Home for Matchup with Navy

RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State women's soccer team will open its home schedule Sunday afternoon when it welcomes Navy to Dail Soccer Stadium for a 1 p.m. kickoff. The midday match will be broadcast on the ACC Digital Network Extra available through Watch ESPN.

In addition to the match being the team's home opener, it will also serve as NC State Athletics first home event of the 2016-17 year.

The Wolfpack enters the match with a 1-2-0 record and has won its last three home openers.
Â
Youth Movement:
Just three games into the season, 10 freshmen have earned playing time for NC State. Six freshmen have started, and five have found the scoresheet with either a goal or assist.

On the Prowl:
The Pack made its season debut with one of the best attacking displays in the country with a 6-1 victory over La Salle. After the opening weekend of matches, NC State was ranked top-20 in six attacking categories and the Pack had three players in the top-25 of individual attacking stats.

Scouting Navy:
Navy holds an 0-2-1 record for the year. It opened the season with a narrow, 2-1 loss against No. 5 Stanford and has gone to overtime in its last two matches. Navy dropped a, 1-0, decision against TCU and came back from two goals down to tie UNCW on Friday night.

NC State holds a 3-0-0 overall record against Navy. The teams last met in 2013 when the Pack earned a 3-2 win at Navy.

NC State dropped a tough match at South Carolina Thursday night, falling 3-0. The Gamecocks, who are currently receiving votes in the latest NSCAA poll, struck early to take a lead. NC State threatened throughout the match, but weren't able to find the back of the net.

Fan Promotions:
The first 200 fans in the stadium will receive a free clear NC State fanny pack. Fans will also have the opportunity to get autographs from the team after the match and take pictures with Mr. and Ms. Wuf. The NC State cheerleading team will perform at halftime and the match will be a Student Wolfpack Club event.
