NC State’s Andrew Knizner earned CoSIDA Academic All-America honors

NC State baseball's Andrew Knizner captured a spot on CoSIDA's Academic All-America second team, announced Friday by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
The junior catcher hit .290 for the Wolfpack, with four homers, 36 runs, and 24 RBIs. Behind the plate, Knizner's thrown out 15 baserunners, eight in ACC play. In the classroom, his 3.98 GPA in Industrial Engineering has him on track for a third-consecutive appearance on the ACC Academic Honor Roll.Â
Knizner marks the 48th CoSIDA All-American in NC State University history, and 67th mention all-time. It's the sixth occurrence for Wolfpack baseball, three of those belonging to Jake Weber. Knizner represents the third player under Elliott Avent's watch to make the list (Weber 1997, 1998; Jason Smith 2000), and the fourth player in program history (Chris Woodfun 1990).
The Glen Allen, Va., native leads NC State into its first regional hosting gig since 2013 this weekend. The Pack opens NCAA Tournament play against Navy, Friday at 7 PM.
