
Moye, Vargas Named ACC Performers of the Week

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Megan Moye and Luis Vargas have been named the ACC Performer of the Week, as announced by the conference office Tuesday afternoon. Moye and Vargas both posted strong marks in mid-distance events at the Wolfpack Last Chance Meet to earn the honor.

The awards marks the third time this season Moye has earned the conference honor. The Mosely, Va., native finished third in the 800m to post a 1.05 second PR of 2:04.93 this weekend on her home track. Moye is having a breakout season to holds two top-25 national marks. She is ranked 22nd in the nation in the 800 and seventh nationally in the 1,500m. She is slated to compete at ACCs and the NCAA East Preliminary in both events.

Vargas won the Wolfpack Last Chance 1,500m race to earn his third ACC and regional qualifying mark of the year. As soon as the pacer stepped off the track, Vargas shot to the front of the pack and held the lead through the rest of the race. Vargas crossed the finish line in 3:42.67 – good for the nation's No. 31 mark. Vargas is now eligible for the 1,500m, 5,000m and 10,000m events at ACCs and the NCAA East Preliminary.

Vargas' win has also qualified him for Hero Sport's HERO of the Week. Voting is now open and will close next Monday.
