Wolfpack Concludes Bill Carson Invite

GREENVILLE, N.C. – The NC State track and field teams wrapped up the Bill Carson Invite, as the women took second pace with 111 points and the men finished sixth with 62 points. More importantly the Pack continued on its journey for postseason qualification and earned several new PRs to end the in-state meet.
Sprints:
The Wolfpack sprinters accounted for seven top-10 finishes and two event wins. Jonathan Addison kicked things off with a second-place finish in the 100m dash with a wind-aided 10.49. The mark is just .05 from his fastest 100m dash. Shannon Patterson also scored for the Pack in the event with an eighth-place finish.
On the women's side Gabriele Cunningham led the Pack with a runner up finish in the event. The freshman closed in on her PR in the event crossing the finish line in 11.88.
Cunningham continued her strong showing at the meet by picking up an event win in the 200m dash with a PR of 24.69. The race marked an almost half a second improvement and was the first time Cunningham went under 25 seconds in the event.
In the men's 200m dash, Patterson finished third with a time of 21.56 and Will Krehnbrink earned a PR of 21.66 for fourth place.
The Pack's 400m dash runners also had an impressive showing as Tiana Patillo finished second with women's race and Brian Davis won the men's race. Patillo's finish (57.72) was less than half a second from the winner. She qualified for the ACC Championships in the event with a big race last weekend.
Davis' time of 48.74 was enough to get the win and bring him to four top-five finishes and two wins on the season. Davis has finished no lower than ninth place all year and has already earned a 400m PR and qualified for the ACC Championships in the event.
Hurdles:
Alexis Perry added her fourth 100m hurdles win of the season with a dominating time of 13.40. Perry crossed the finish line .29 ahead of the runner up to clinch the win. She has now won all but one 100m hurdles event that she has competed in this season.
Cunningham added a fifth-place finish and was .01 from her PR, crossing the finish line in 14.05.
On the men's side, Josh Gandy added a big PR for the Pack and came within .02 of an ACC qualifying mark. Gandy cleared the 110m hurdles in 14.53 to improve his PR by almost .20 and finish sixth in the event.
Jumps:
The Wolfpack picked up two event wins in the jumps, as Margaret Edwards took the victory in the high jump and Amara Bell won the triple jump.
Edwards continues her undefeated season, having won all three high jump events she has entered. At ECU, she cleared 5'7" for the win.
Bell took the triple jump title with a mark of 39'5.00". The mark is just short of her PR, and is her best mark of the season. Javonne Antoine was right behind Bell for second place with a jump of 39'1.00".
In addition to the wins, the Pack also place several athletes in the top-five to score points for the team.
Addison and Christopher Garrick finished third and fourth, respectively in the men's high jump. Both cleared the bar at 6'8.75" in the competitive event. The top-two athletes cleared 7'2.50".
The women's long jump featured three top-10 finishes for the Pack. Perry led the way in third place, Bell took fifth and Antoine seventh, scoring 12 points from the event.
On the men's side, 400m sprinter Brian Davis showed off his long jump prowess with a jump of 21'3.50" for 10th place.
Mid-Distance:
The Wolfpack added a two more top-10 finishes in the 1,500m run. Lauren Velasco and Gianna Frontera represented the distance squad, finishing third and sixth, respectively.
Up Next:
The Virginia Challenge is the next meet lined up for the Pack. NC State added plenty of strong mid-distance and distance marks at the event last year. The squad will make the trip to Charlottesville, Va., April 22nd and 23rd.
