Men’s Golf Competes at ACC Championship Beginning Friday

NEW LONDON, N.C. – Days after claiming an impressive victory at the Wolfpack Spring Intercollegiate over two top-25 programs, the NC State men's golf team looks to carry positive momentum into the 2016 Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Golf Championship this weekend at Old North State Club.
The tournament will be carried live on ESPN3 and the WatchESPN app beginning at 3 p.m. on Saturday and 1 p.m. on Sunday.
THE SEASON SO FAR
NC State continued its very strong 2015-16 season with the aforementioned dominating win at the Wolfpack Spring Intercollegiate on April 16-17. The Wolfpack has posted a team record of 115-39-3 and has claimed six top-three finishes through 11 tournaments this season.
THE COURSE
The Old North State Club is located in the prestigious community of Uwharrie Point outside of Charlotte. In its opening year, the course was awarded the No. 2 ranking in Golf Digest's "Best New Private Courses in America." For the purposes of the ACC Championship, the course will play a par of 72 over 7,102 yards.
The Old North State Club has been the home of the ACC Men's Golf Championship since the spring of 1995.
WOLFPACK AT THE CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP
NC State last claimed the ACC Championship in 1990 at Northgreen Country Club in Rocky Mount, N.C. All five Wolfpack golfers placed within the tournament top-20 that season, with Dough Stone and Joel Hartwell leading the way by finishing 11th and 14th, respectively.
The Wolfpack finished ninth at the last four ACC Championships. During last season's edition, Carter Page (T25th) and David Cooke (T28th) were NC State's top two finishers.
THE NC STATE LINEUP
David Cooke – Shot a career-best 198 (-15) during last weekend's win.
Stephen Franken – A freshman, the Wolfpack's stroke leader at 71.26 per round.
Jacob McBride – Has finished below par in three of his last four tournaments.
Carter Page – Leads the team with 119 career rounds played.
Davis Richards – Has recorded three top-20 finishes during his freshman season.
