RALEIGH – No. 37 NC State women's tennis begins its final week of regular-season action when it faces No. 8 Duke in Durham, N.C., Tuesday afternoon.
Â
Now 12-9 on the season, 4-7 in the ACC, three conference opponents remain on the schedule for the Pack including Tuesday's matchup. Last week the Wolfpack played a stacked four-match schedule, rallying late to collect a 6-1 victory over No. 70 Winthrop in the final dual of Saturday's doubleheader.

Prior to the victory, the Red & White faced off against a tough slate of conference opponents that included No. 2 North Carolina, No. 7 Miami and No. 69 Florida State, but were unable to capture a conference victory. Â

SCOUTING DUKE:
No. 8 Duke, a highly-anticipated conference opponent, enters the meeting 16-4, 9-2 in conference play. The Blue Devils bring a high level of competitive play to the court, proven with a total 13 wins over nationally-ranked opponents accumulated since the beginning of the season. The Duke roster includes four ranked singles players, highlighted by No. 25 Beatrice Capra and No. 43 Kaitlyn McCarthy, along with three doubles duos among the nation's top-75, including the No. 19-ranked pair of Capra and Ellyse Hamlin.

Â
No. 25 Capra is consistent at the No. 1 spot, ensuring another tough matchup for No. 38 Martina Frantova. While Capra ranks 13 positions higher in the poll, her .500 dual record and 4-5 singles record opposite nationally-ranked opponents displays less impressive when compared to Frantova's winning record in both categories.

SIMON SAYS:
"After three matches Friday and Saturday it's a quick turnaround for the teams and right back into ACC action against Duke tomorrow. The girls weren't happy with their performance and the outcome last Friday and know they need to step up the final two weeks of the regular season. We've got to try and put a complete match together and, in some ways, we are probably due at this point. It's pretty clear that, as a program, we have made tremendous progress in many areas. The challenge is to understand how to facilitate such a performance. Certainly, there's a growing understanding and recognition of what we need to do and the experience we have gained this season can help us from here on out." – Simon Earnshaw, head coach
