No. 38 Wolfpack Faces Fourth Top-10 Opponent, Falls to No. 8 Duke

NC State women's tennis returns to action Friday for Senior Day match
DURHAM, N.C. - No. 38 NC State faced its fourth top-10 opponent of the season Tuesday afternoon when it fell 6-1 to No. 8 Duke. Each of the Pack's top-10 competition has come within the conference slate.
Coming off of a tough, four-match stretch last week, the Red & White struggled to capture momentum in singles play. The Blue Devils tallied five straight-set wins over the Wolfpack, clinching the dual along the way. No. 51 Martina Frantova put the Pack on the board in the final finish of the match as she netted a 6-3, 4-6, 10-8 win over No. 41 McCarthy.
Frantova is now 12-9 on the season, 10-8 over nationally-ranked opponents.
The doubles duo of Bianca Moldovan and Joanna Nalborska improved its conference doubles record into winning territory as the pair collected a 6-3 victory over Chalena Scholl and Alyssa Smith Tuesday. The Pack duo is now 6-5 in ACC play.
Moldovan and Nalborska's win followed up a loss at the No. 1 doubles as Frantova and Tayla Stenta fell 6-2 to Samantha Harris and Kaitlyn McCarthy. The new duo of Barbara Mancera and Amanda Rebol were unable to overpower the undefeated Duke pair of Jessica Ho and Ellyse Hamlin, falling 6-4 in the deciding doubles finish.
This year's Senior Day celebration will take place Friday when the Pack hosts No. 27 Wake Forest in its final home match of the regular season.
