No. 13 Pack Falls 8-5 at No. 11 FSU

NC State baseball dropped game one in Tallahassee on Friday
TALLAHASSEE, FLA. - No. 13 NC State baseball lost 8-5 to No. 11 Florida State on Friday at Dick Howser Stadium.
The Wolfpack (16-8, 3-4 ACC) sank into a 6-0 deficit by the bottom first. NC State clawed back with one run in the third, three in the fourth, and one in the sixth, before Florida State (18-5, 6-1) put the game away with a two-run homer in the seventh, setting the final 8-5.
Brett Kinneman made his first college start and produced hits in each of his first three at-bats, finishing 3-for-4 with a double, a run, and an RBI. Stephen Pitarra doubled for the fourth time this year, raising his average to .400, part of a 2-for-4 outing with a triple and a run.
Brock Deatherage drove in one, singled, and reached once on a third strike passed ball. Chance Shepard singled, scored once, and contributed an RBI. Preston Palmeiro scored twice on a hit and a walk. Joe Dunand had an RBI on a sac fly to left. Josh McLain drove in a run on a fielder's choice.
Wolfpack starter Joe O'Donnell (3-2) took the loss after leaving in the first. Karl Keglovits followed, going three innings with one earned on three hits and a walk. Sean Adler worked the next 3 1/3, his only hit allowed a two-run homer in the seventh, punching out three and walking two. Chris Williams pitched a perfect ninth.
NC State returns to action on Saturday for a doubleheader beginning at Noon. Sunday's game was moved up due to forecast. Streaming coverage will be carried on ESPN3.
