Wolfpack Softball Earns Pair of Run-Rule, Shutout Victories

NC State scores 20 runs on the day and didn’t allow a run
RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State softball team made a #STATEment on the first day of competition in the DoubleTree RDU Challenge, as the Wolfpack earned a pair of shutout, run-rule victories. The Pack ran past Delaware State in the first game, 12-0, and shut out Loyola Chicago in the nightcap, 8-0.

NC State moves to 11-9 on the season, while Delaware State falls to 7-9 and Loyola drops to 13-6.

Opening statement…
"I'm really happy with our performance today, getting a couple shutouts and we scored a lot of runs," said head coach Shawn Rychcik. "We've been waiting for this kind of offensive production and it was throughout our batting order from top to bottom.

"We were pretty sharp in all aspects of the game with some good pitching, good hitting and good defense."

- NC State earned its first run-rule victory and shutout of the season in a 12-0 win against Delaware State.
- Macauley Prickett ignited the Wolfpack offense in the bottom of the second, to give the Wolfpack a 2-0 lead in the game as Jessica Moore and Brittany Nimmo scored.
