NC State falls to Stanford, Michigan
NC State falls to 6-8 on the year, while the Cardinal improves to 7-6 and the Wolverines move to 11-1.
Quick Hits (Versus Stanford)
- Despite scoring nine runs in the contest, NC State came up short against Stanford.
- Stanford plated three runs in the top of the first to take a 3-0 lead after being issued six walks by Wolfpack pitchers.
- NC State rallied to knot the score at five in the bottom of the second, but a four-run fourth inning gave the Cardinal an 11-5 advantage.
- Stanford added four runs in its final plate appearance in the seventh and the Pack tried to rally but was not able to overcome the deficit.
Game Notes (Versus Stanford)
- Freshman Brittany Nimmo made her collegiate debut in the circle, pitching two innings in relief with three strikeouts.
- Meredith Burroughs and Tyler Ross each homered in the game for the Wolfpack. It was the third round-tripper of the weekend for both players.
- NC State collected 13 hits in the contest.
- Macauley Prickett smacked a standup triple down the right field line in the seventh, the first triple of her NC State career and first of the season for the Wolfpack.
Quick Hits (Versus Michigan)
- Ross got the Wolfpack off to a great start against No. 2 Michigan by hitting the second pitch of the ballgame over the right field fence for a leadoff home run.
- It was her team-leading eighth blast of the season.
- NC State held a 1-0 lead until the bottom of the fourth when the Wolverines scored four runs, two of which were unearned, to grab a 4-1 advantage.
- Michigan added three runs in the fourth and a two-run homer in the bottom of the fifth gave the squad a 9-1 win against NC State.
