BOSTON – The No. 9 women's and No. 18 men's track and field teams opened the ACC Indoor Championships with a new school record and three All-ACC selections.

Joshua Davis opened the meet for the Pack with a heave of 69'11.00" in the weight throw to extend his school record and place third. The Wolfpack Women senior throwers added All-ACC finishes and the men's DMR team scored points for the Pack.

The NC State men sit in fourth with eight points after two events and the women are eighth with eight points after three events.

Heptathlon:
Grant Rivers sits in ninth place after four events in the men's heptathlon with 2,812 points. Rivers set a PR in the high jump (6'7"), set a season-high mark in the 60m dash (7.50) and tied his long jump PR (21'2") to open the meet.

Rivers had his best finish of the day in the high jump, finishing third with 813 points from the single event. He took 17th in the 60m dash for 713 points, 12th in the long jump for 686 points and 11th in the shot put for 600 points.

He will conclude the final leg tomorrow with the 60 hurdles, pole vault and the 1,000m run.

Weight Throw:
Joshua Davis won bronze in the men's weight throw to give the men's team six point after the first event. Davis crushed his previous PR and extended his school record to 69'11.00". The mark beats his previous record by more than a foot and moves him from 24thto 15th in national lists.

The Pelham, N.C., native took command of the leaderboard after the first throw. He then fouled his next three attempts before earning the school record and national mark on his fifth throw.

Davis also earns first-team All-ACC honors with the throw, and is the first Wolfpack men's thrower to earn All-ACC honors at the indoor conference championships since Nathaniel Williams in 2014.

NC State also added points in the women's competition, as Nicole Chavis and SeQuoia Watkins took home top-six finishes in their final ACC Indoor Championships.

Chavis led the duo, finishing 4th with a throw of 68'6.00" to earn five points for the Pack. Watkins registered a huge PR of 64'7.25" to take sixth and add three team points.

Chavis is a four-time All-ACC selection in the event, finishing no lower than fourth in each of her four years. Additionally, Chavis holds a national mark in the event and is set for the NCAA Championships. She is also a two-time First-Team All-American.

Watkins, an All-American is the discus, wraps up her indoor campaign with All-ACC honors for the second year in a row. Watkins saved her best throw until the fifth-round of the competition, launching the weight almost two feet farther than her previous season best mark.

DMR:
The men's team debuted a fresh DMR squad for the meet and scored two points for the Pack with a seventh-place finish, crossing the finish line in 9:49.05. Sebastian Hanson covered the opening 1,200m leg in 3:04.02, Brian Davis competed the 400m leg in 48.50, Philip Hall ran the 800 leg in 1:52.98 and Meron Simon anchored the team with a 4:03.56 1,600m leg.

The women's side competed in the DMR for the first time this season, finishing 11th with a time of 11:42.27. Esther Fisher ran the opening leg in 3:31.99, Dejah Arnold added a 56.97 400m leg, Sarah Kanney ran the 800m leg in 2:15.10, and Alyssa Rudawsky anchored the race with a 4:58.22 1,600m leg.
