Pack Starts Southern Swing Saturday at Tulane

NEW ORLEANS – A winner of four straight games and five of its last six, the NC State women's basketball team (9-2) closes non-conference play with a two-game southern swing beginning Saturday afternoon at Tulane. Tip-off between the Wolfpack and Green Wave is scheduled for 2 p.m. CT (3 p.m. ET) at Devlin Fieldhouse.

Led by 26 points on 10-14 shooting from freshman guard Aislinn Konig and the Wolfpack's ninth-best defensive effort in program history, the NC State women's basketball team closed out home non-conference play with a dominating 83-33 victory over visiting North Carolina Central Wednesday evening on Kay Yow Court inside Reynolds Coliseum.
NC State took control of the game early, sprinting out to a 27-4 lead at the conclusion of the first quarter thanks to 11-15 (.733) shooting from the field. The Wolfpack extended the lead in every single quarter, holding the Eagles (1-7) to single-digit scoring totals in three quarters and ultimately tying the ninth-best defensive performance in 42.5 years of basketball by allowing just 33 points in a 40-minute game.
Chelsea Nelson (12 points and 10 rebounds) and Miah Spencer (10 points, 4 assists) joined Konig in double figures. The double-double was Nelson's fourth of the season and the fifth of her career. Freshman Lucky Rudd dished out a game-high seven assists, tying the combined assist total of the entire NCCU squad.
