Wolfpack Plays at No. 5 Clemson Saturday

RALEIGH – The NC State men's soccer team returns to action Saturday evening at No. 5 Clemson. Kickoff from Riggs Field is set for 7 p.m. and the action will be broadcast live on ACC Network Extra.
APPROACHING ELITE COMPANY
With NC State's next win, the Wolfpack will claim the 500th victory in program history and become just the 31st NCAA Division I program to reach this mark.
LAST MATCH
Despite a strong performance, NC State endured a tough 2-1 defeat to visiting Duke Sept. 30 in front of a large crowd of 1,765 fans at Dail Soccer Stadium.
NC State outshot Duke by a 14-6 margin and took a 1-0 lead in the sixth minute on a Tanner Roberts goal before Duke equalized in the ninth minute and ultimately took the lead in the 75th.
ACADEMIC HONORS
On Oct. 6, NC State became one of just 221 schools throughout NCAA Divisions I, II, and III to have both its men's and women's teams earn the NSCAA Team Academic Award for the 2015-16 school year. The NC State men's program earned a team GPA of 3.23 during this time.
INCREASED EFFICIENCY
NC State sophomore forwards Tanner Roberts and Clayton Sparks have shown impressive growth from the 2015 season to present. Roberts has doubled his goal total from last season in six fewer matches while Sparks has achieved the same increase in production while playing just one more match than last season.
SERIES HISTORY
-Saturday's match marks the 58th meeting between NC State and Clemson.
-The Wolfpack trails 14-36-7 in the series.
-NC State's last win over Clemson was a 2-0 road victory on Oct. 17 of the 2008 season.
-NC State outshot Clemson 16-9 in the last meeting between the teams but fell 4-1 in Raleigh on Oct. 30, 2015.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
-Clemson enters Saturday's match the owner of the No. 5 national ranking in the NSCAA poll and a 7-1-2 record which includes a 2-1-1 mark in ACC play.
-The Tigers advanced to the NCAA national championship game last season, eventually losing to Stanford.
-Clemson has outscored its opponents 17-7 this season.
-The Tigers are led offensively by five goals and 12 points from Diego Campos.
