NC State scrimmaged 10 innings Sunday at Doak Field at Dail Park
NC State baseball finished fall practice Sunday with Howl-O-Ween, featuring costumed batting practice and a 10-inning scrimmage streamed live on Periscope.
The split-squad scrimmage resulted in a 13-7 win for the home side. With the score 11-4 entering the eighth, coaches reset the scoreboard to 1-0, and the visiting side won the resulting two-inning game 3-2 with Johnny Piedmonte claiming the save.
Brock Deatherage tripled in his first at-bat of the day, scoring twice with a double, two walks, two stolen bases, and a single. Will Wilson hit the game's only home run, a three-run shot to left.Â
Shane Shepard walked four times, scoring twice, with two doubles an RBI and a stolen base. Brad Debo plated a pair with a single in his final at-bat. E.P. Reese drove in one with two singles, a stolen base, and a run.Â
Garrett Suggs drove in a run on two singles, scoring once, and providing an outfield assist to the plate from center in the second. Brett Kinneman singled three times, supplied two RBIs, stole a base, walked once, and scored twice. Tommy DeJuneas singled twice, scored once, walked once, and stole a bag.Â
Jack Conley doubled twice, scored once, and walked once. Josh McLain had three hits, two RBIs, a run, and a stolen base. Brady Gulakowski had three RBIs on three hits including a two-RBI double to left. Dillon Cooper stole three bases to score his lone run on a single in his first at-bat.
Pitching stats were not recorded by the SID. Christian Demby and Dalton Feeney started the game. Tim Naughton, Johnny Piedmonte, Kit Larson, James Ferguson, Dillon Cooper, Kent Klyman, Connor Centala, and Zach Usselman saw action.
