RALEIGH – Led by a career scoring high of 25 points from junior guard Dominique Wilson, the NC State women's basketball team (11-5, 2-1 Atlantic Coast Conference) picked up its second straight league victory Thursday evening over visiting Georgia Tech, winning by a final score of 65-57.
In a game that featured nine ties, an astounding 15 lead changes, and 31 points from ACC scoring leader Aaliyah Whiteside of Georgia Tech, the Wolfpack prevailed down the stretch, fighting back from a 52-51 deficit with 6:58 remaining. NC State would score 14 of the game's final 19 points—nine of which came from the free-throw line—to seal the victory.
"We just hung in there and fought tonight," NC State head coach Wes Moore said. "We hit some big threes, which saved us, but you have to give Georgia Tech credit because their zone gave us a lot of trouble and they were really flying around.
"This was a much-needed win and it was a hard-fought win."
