Distance Runners Capture National Times at Camel City

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Pack's distance runners made their mark on school history and national lists, as all five runners earned national top-10 times and four athletes went into the record books with top-10 marks in school history on Saturday at the Camel City Elite. The Pack raced against some of the nation's top college talents, as well as professional athletes.
Wesley Frazier broke the indoor 3,000m school record and took the country's top 3,000m time with a dominating performance on her debut. Frazier raced at the front of the pack alongside five professional athletes. Her time of 9:01.26 puts her at the top of the national 3k lists by almost seven seconds.
After earning their 5,000m marks in December, Erika Kemp and Luis Vargas both added national 3k marks to their resume. Kemp's mark currently ranks third in the nation and sixth in school history, and Vargas' time is first in the nation and third in school history.
Both Megan Moye and Graham Crawford's mile results, rank among the top-10 in the NCAA and Moye's mile time is third in school history.
3,000m: The Wolfpack earned its second nation-leading mark of the weekend after Frazier's opening #STATEMENT in the 3,000m. On her Wolfpack debut, The Raleigh, N.C. native, finished the race in 9:01.26, good for the nation's top mark and the school record.
Frazier finished third overall, just behind professionals Kerri Gallagher and Rachel Schneider. Gallergher won the event, crossing the finish line in 8:56.53 to take the world's third-best time of the season. Frazier finished ahead of Brooks Beast runner Katie Mackey and Nike Oregon TCE runner Alexi Pappas.
In the same race, Kemp finished sixth overall with the nation's third-best time of 9:12.71. The mark shatters her old PR of 9:24.36, and ranks eighth in school history. Kemp was the second collegiate athlete to finish the race.
On the men's side, Luis Vargas continued the successful outing for the Pack, finishing as the top collegiate athlete and third overall in 7:54.26. After the conversion, his time (7:48.81) ranks first in the nation and third in school history.
The Elon transfer earned his 5k mark in December at the Hoosier Open. His time of 13:49.86 ranks fifth in the country.
Mile:
Megan Moye was the first collegiate athlete to cross the finish line in the women's elite mile. Moye finished seventh overall in 4:41.08. The mark ranks 12th in the country, third in school history and beats her previous indoor mile PR of 4:42.35.
In the men's race, Graham Crawford earned the team's fifth national mark of the day, after finishing third in the mile. Crawford was the first collegiate athlete to cross the finish line with a time of 4:02.72. His converted time(3:59.67) is the fourth-fastest mile in the NCAA this season.
All five marks qualify each athlete in their respective events for the ACC Championships. Qualification for the NCAA Championships will be decided after the conference championships. The top-16 athletes nationally in each event after the conference championships will qualify for the NCAA Championships.
