Q: How does it feel to be in your second semester of college already?
"It feels a lot more comfortable than my first semester. I've adjusted to the schedule and everything, because I've been doing it for a while now and it's not anything new. I enjoy it and I like the set up of college, the pace is fast but not too fast."
Â
Q: Talk about how your first semester at NC State went.
"It was busy. I had a tough schedule and I was constantly going. It was a good experience because it prepared me for the rest of college. A little overwhelming at first, but it wasn't bad once I got deeper into the semester and the fall season started."
Â
Q: What was the biggest adjustment from high school to college?
"The workload. In high school, the pace was much slower and the homework wasn't as difficult. In college, everything you do matters in order to get your homework done and be prepared for class. Also, time management is a big deal in college and I had to figure what to do with my time each day in order to be successful and not be stressed."
Â
Q: Talk about how your first exam went.
"My first exam was in chemistry and I was nervous as all get-out because I'd never taken a college test before and didn't know what to expect. I studied hard for it and was able to get through it."
Â
Q. Talk about how the fall season went for you on the field.
"I think the fall season got better for me as it progressed. As I got my nerves out, I started to get more comfortable on the field and relaxed. I think I stopped worrying so much about the small things and just played how I've been taught to play. I think it went well overall and helped me see what it will be like playing with this team in the spring."
Â
Q. Â How did it feel to go home over the Christmas break to unwind and spend some time with family?
"It was great to go home and see my family. I'm really close to my family and I missed all of them. It was great to see my parents, my little brother, cousins and grandparents. It felt like I was never away from home."
Â
Q. What was the best gift you received for Christmas this year?
"To be honest, money. That's probably the best gift because I can spend it how I would like."
Â
Q. What are you most looking forward to with the season coming up?
"I'm looking forward to being on the field and on the mound helping my team win."
Â
Q. When did you start playing softball?
"I started playing in the fourth grade."
Â
Q. What's your favorite softball memory?Â
"My senior year of high school playing with my travel ball team in Colorado. The team chemistry was great and I remember having so much fun with them."
Â
Q. What's your favorite part of practice and your least favorite part of practice?
"My favorite part of practice is hitting front toss on the field. I love hitting in addition to pitching. I don't really have a least favorite part of practice, unless running counts."Â Â
