Wolfpack soccer falls from the ranks of the unbeaten on the road Monday
NC State men's soccer outshot the Wildcats 17-6, but dropped a 2-1 decision on the road at Davidson on Monday night.
"We didn't play for 90 minutes tonight and it cost us a result," said NC State head coach Kelly Findley. "We were excellent at times in the second half. When you have 17 shots to their six you expect to win the game but that's soccer."
Zach Knudson provided the Pack (3-1) with a late spark in the 86th minute, cashing in his second goal of the year, on an assist from Travis Wannemuehler. Davidson (2-0-1) built a 2-0 lead with goals in the 22nd and 73rd minutes.
"We learned an important lesson tonight," said Findley. "We'll keep improving. I look forward to watching our response against BC this Friday."
Wolfpack soccer returns to action on Friday, September 11, hosting Boston College at 7 PM to kick off the Atlantic Coast Conference slate.
