NC State won its ACC opener on Duvernay's game-winner in the 109th minute

No. 23 Wolfpack men's soccer edged Boston College 2-1 (2OT) on Caleb Duvernay's 109th minute golden goal, Friday night at Dail Soccer Stadium.

NC State (4-1, 1-0 ACC) fell behind in the 52nd minute, when Boston College (3-2, 0-1) opened the scoring with a goal from point blank on a ball poked out to the penalty spot from a melee in net.

Ade Taiwo scored his first collegiate goal after battling through a year of injuries in 2014. Taiwo found himself on the end of a Caleb Duvernay cross tapped forward by Philip Carmon to knot it 1-1 in the 67th.

Following regulation and a scoreless first overtime period, Duvernay provided the game-winner with only 1:47 left before settling for a draw. Simon Blotko and Zach Knudson contributed the assists to put Duvernay in possession for a quick strike from close range inside the left post.

Duvernay's golden goal sealed the Pack's 2-1 win to open the ACC slate. NC State returns to action on Tuesday, September 15 to host Wofford at 7 PM.
