Volleyball Turns Away Jacksonville for First Home Victory

Cormier, Speaks turn in double-double performances
RALEIGH, N.C. - Led by sophomore Julia Brown and senior Morgan Cormier, the NC State volleyball team earned its first home win of the season, as it defeated Jacksonville, 3-1 (25-27, 25-13, 25-22, 25-22), Saturday afternoon inside Carmichael Gymnasium.

The Wolfpack improves to 4-1 while the Dolphins move to 2-3 on the season.Â

Match Notes
-With today's win, NC State holds a perfect 4-0 record in its all-time series with Jacksonville.
-Cormier collected her second double-double of the season and her career, as she recorded 11 kills and 10 digs in her outing.
-Junior Maggie Speaks also recorded a double-double, as she dished out 39 assists and tallied 10 digs. This marks the first of the season and the seventh of her career.

-After a back-and forth battle between NC State and Jacksonville throughout the first set, the Wolfpack narrowly fell to the Dolphins, 27-25, in set one.Â
- Following the first-set thriller, the Pack surged back with strong offensive play at the net to win the second set, 25-13. Collectively, the Pack recorded a .520 hitting percentage with 14 kills.Â
-NC State capitalized on its momentum from set two to win the third set, 25-22. Brown lead the team with six kills, while freshman Blayke Hranicka recorded kills on five of her eight swings in the set.Â
-Despite strong efforts in the back end of the set by Jacksonville, the Wolfpack managed to seal the match with a 25-22 win in the fourth set to clinch its first victory of the season on its home court.Â
