Men’s Tennis Opens Play at Duke Invite

Horton and Norenius claim singles wins
CARY, N.C. – The NC State men's tennis team opened play at the Duke James Bonk Invite on Friday, winning two singles and one doubles match. Upperclassmen Nick Horton and Simon Norenius led the Pack with wins, while Michael Ogden made his collegiate debut.
Results:
Horton and Norenius opened the day in doubles defeating Louisville's Sen Donohue and Alex Gornet, 8-4. The duo fell in the next round to Duke's Vincent Lin and Adrian Chamdani, 8-5. They will back in action on Saturday in the third-place match of the doubles white draw.
In singles play, Horton returned to college tennis after several ATP Challenger matches. He defeated Michiel Meekers of Radford in straight sets. Norenius was also victorious in his opening singles match, defeating Old Dominion's Jacob Nicolussi 6-1, 1-6, 6-4.
Pack Debut:
After redshirting last season, Michael Ogden competed in his first collegiate tennis tournament, seeing action in two doubles and one singles match. He will face Stuart DePaolo of North Carolina on Saturday.
Shoti Meparidze also saw action, dropping a close, 6-4, 6-4 decision against Auburn's Conner Huertas del Pina.
