Live Stats | Twitter
No. 20 NC State travels to defending national champion, No. 6 Virginia on Friday night at 7 PM.
The Wolfpack (5-1, 1-0 ACC) enter the match following wins over previously unbeaten Wofford on Tuesday, and a double-overtime thriller against Boston College in the conference opener last Friday. Virginia (3-0-2, 0-0-1) earned a 2-2 tie at Duke in its ACC debut.
State's last meeting with the Cavaliers occurred in 2013, resulting in a 3-3 road draw for the Pack. NC State has not defeated Virginia on the Hoos' home turf since 1980. Last year, Virginia won a PK shootout with UCLA for the national title.
Zach Knudson, Julius Duchscherer, Yanni Hachem, and Caleb Duvernay lead the Pack with five points each through six matches. Hachem and Duchscherer scored in Tuesday's match to join that group.
Alex McCauley boasts a 0.80 GAA through six starts. The senior's collected 14 saves in 560 minutes of play, and expects to feature prominently in Friday's match against a powerful Virginia attack.
Ade Taiwo, Cameron Steele, and Tanner Roberts round out the Wolfpackers with goals this season, providing one apiece. Simon Blotko leads the squad in assists with a pair. NC State has outshot opponents 32-17 in the first half, drawing 17 first half corners to eight for the opposition.
