Wolfpack Volleyball Tames Lions in Straight Sets, 3-0

NC State records an attacking percentage of .311 for the match
COLUMBIA, S.C. – The NC State women's volleyball team was firing on all cylinders Saturday morning, as the Wolfpack cruised past the Southeastern Louisiana Lions in straight sets, 3-0 (25-17, 25-17, 25-19), inside the Carolina Volleyball Center.

NC State moves to 2-0 on the season, while Southeastern Louisiana falls to 0-2. The Pack will return to action and complete play in the Gamecock Invitational at 7 p.m. tonight against host South Carolina.

Match Notes
- NC State finished the match with an attacking percentage of .311, while limiting Southeastern Louisiana to a -.057 clip. The Wolfpack forced the Lions to commit more errors (22) than kills (18) for the match.
- Saturday morning's clash was the first meeting in the history of the two programs.
- The Wolfpack is now 2-0 in the Gamecock Invitational and will play South Carolina in the championship match tonight at 7p.m.

Match Rewind
- NC State struggled early in the first set, as Southeastern Louisiana raced out to an 11-6 advantage forcing the Wolfpack to call a timeout. Following the break in play, NC State fought back to even the score at 16.
- Tied 16-16, the Pack pulled away from the Lions with a 9-1 run to win the frame, 25-17, and take a 1-0 lead in the match.
- Freshman Blayke Hranicka had a great first set for the Wolfpack, tallying a kill on all four of her swings in the frame.
- In the second set, NC State jumped out to a 7-2 advantage thanks to some strong serving from sophomore Perry Ramsey. After Southeastern Louisiana trimmed the Wolfpack lead to four, 11-7, NC State scored three unanswered points forcing the Lions to call a timeout.
- A kill by Ramsey put the finishing touches on the frame, as the Wolfpack won it, 25-17 to take a 2-0 lead in the match.
- After Southeastern Louisiana scored the first point in the third set, NC State reeled off seven consecutive points and never trailed again nor was the score tied en route to a 25-19 set win to claim the match, 3-0.

- For the second consecutive match, sophomore Julia Brown led the Wolfpack offensively with nine kills and a .389 attacking percentage.
- Ramsey chipped in with seven, while Hranicka also had seven kills to go along with an .875 hitting percentage.
- Junior Maggie Speaks tallied a match-high 32 assists from her setter position and also recorded five blocks and three kills.
- Defensively, sophomore Kaitlyn Kearney recorded a match-high seven blocks. Senior Morgan Cormier and sophomore Emily Harris contributed six digs each.
