Pack Begins 2015 Season in San Diego Friday

RALEIGH – The NC State women's soccer team officially begins the 2015 season in San Diego on Friday evening. Third-year head coach Tim Santoro and his Wolfpack will play host San Diego Friday evening and No. 10 Pepperdine Sunday afternoon.

SERIES HISTORY
-Friday's match will mark the first-ever meeting between NC State and San Diego.
SCOUTING THE TOREROS
-San Diego ended the 2014 season with a 10-8-2 record and an RPI of 55.
-The Toreros qualified for the NCAA Tournament, falling to UCLA in the first round.
-San Diego was selected to finish fourth in the West Coast Conference preseason poll and junior midfielder Jacqueline Altschuld was picked for the preseason All-WCC team.
WE'RE COMING HOME
Four NC State players call San Diego home. Freshmen Crystal Cordova, Hannah Keogh, Taylor Porter, and Sydney Wootten all came to Raleigh from San Diego and played for club sides Del Mar Carmel Valley and San Diego Surf.
INTERNATIONAL DUTY
Junior forward Gladys Loyas has been selected to compete for the Dominican Republic women's national team in Olympic qualifying games from August 19-26. During this week, she and her Dominican Republic teammates will take on Jamaica, Bermuda, and Dominica.
OPENING THE ROSTER
NC State head coach Tim Santoro opened up his roster in the Aug. 14 exhibition against No. 11 South Carolina, playing 21 of 23 players available for the match. All six freshmen took the field during the contest which featured three 30-minute periods.
NEW FACES IN THE PACK
NC State welcomes the following seven newcomers to its team for the 2015 season:
Transfer: Harley James (Vanderbilt)
Freshmen: Ella Bonner, Maxine Blackwood, Crystal Cordova, Hannah Keogh, Taylor Porter, Sydney Wootten.
CHALLENGING SCHEDULE
Including NC State's exhibition against No. 11 South Carolina, eight of the Wolfpack's contests this season will be against teams either ranked or receiving votes in the preseason NSCAA poll.
