Several members of the team have gained valuable experience in USTA and ITF matches
During the summer, members of the NC State men's tennis team have played locally and abroad in United States Tennis Association (USTA) and International Tennis Federation (ITF) tournaments. Nick Horton and Shoti Meparidze have gained experience in Europe, while several of the U.S.-based Wolfpackers have excelled in summer tournaments across the country.
Horton has seen the most action in international tennis tournaments this summer.
He opened play at the Spain F21 Futures tournament, and breezed through the first three rounds of competition with three straight-set victories. In the main draw, Horton edged Samuel Bensoussn, 6-4, 4-6, 6-4, but eventually fell to Eric Fomba.
He then travelled to France for the France F15 Futures tournament. The Australian defeated two opponents in straight sets to book his spot in the main draw, but was defeated by Elie Rousset, 6-4, 6-3, in the first round of the main draw.
In other ITF action, Meparidze recorded five singles wins and three doubles wins in matches at the Georgia Future tournaments.
The Tbilisi, Georgia, native advanced to the main draw of the Georgia F4 Futures tournament in singles and doubles, as well as advanced to the main draw in doubles at the Georgia F5 tournament.
In the United States, members of the Pack has been involved in several USTA tournaments.
After the conclusion of the NCAA season, Ian Dempster and Robbie Mudge partnered together and won doubles titles at the 84th Annual City of Asheville Open Tennis Championships and the 55th Annual CVITT.
In Asheville, Mudge also took the singles title, defeating Sergey Belov in straight sets.

Dempster also saw success in other tournaments throughout the summer. The Plano, Texas, native dominated the ITA Summer Circuit at Virginia Tech, winning both the singles and doubles titles. He also earned a victory at the Tulsa Pro Championships.
Dempster has currently won 11 doubles and six singles matches in summer tournaments.
Ryan Newman and Michael Ogden have also partnered together in doubles play. The pairing has played in three tournaments and picked five wins, including an appearance in the ITA Summer Circuit at Virginia Tech doubles championships match.
In singles play, Newman made his way to the quarterfinals of the Mid-Atlantic US Open Sectional Qualifying, before dropping a match against two-time ITA All-American Mikelis Libietis.
Ogden has played in a variety of tournaments throughout the summer, amassing 13 total singles wins.
Fellow redshirt freshman Andrew Weisser has competed in three summer tournaments, including an appearance at the Southern US Open Sectional Qualifying.
