Powell Named 2015 ITA Scholar Athlete

This is Powell’s second academic in honor of the postseason
SKILLMAN, N.J. - Austin Powell of the NC State men's tennis team was named a 2015 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Scholar Athlete, as announced by the organization.
The Muscle Shoals, Ala., native has earned his second academic award of the postseason after he was named to the All-Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Academic Team earlier in the summer.
The recent NC State graduate concluded his athletic career with 91 singles wins, which ranks third in school history. During Powell's senior season, he posted a 20-15 singles record and defeated four nationally ranked opponents.
To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.50 grade point average for the current academic year, must remain enrolled at the present school for a minimum of two semesters and must earn a varsity letter to receive ITA Scholar-Athlete status.
