Two home meets headline 2015 schedule
RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State cross country program has released its 2015 schedule, as announced by head coaches Rollie Geiger and Laurie Henes.
The Wolfpack will open the season at its home course with the adidas XC Challenge, which is slated for Sept. 18. Last year, the Wolfpack finished first in the men and women's team standings.
The team will then make back-to-back trips to the Midwest for the Notre Dame Invitational on Oct. 2nd and the Wisconsin adidas Invitational on Oct. 16.
The Wisconsin adidas Invitational will feature solid competition, as 25 women's teams and 20 men's teams that ran at the 2014 NCAA Championships will compete in Madison, Wis.
On Oct. 30, the Pack will open postseason competition with the ACC Championships in Tallahassee, Fla. Last year, the men finished in second and the women took fourth at the conference championships.
NC State will host its final home meet of the season on Nov. 7th. The Three Stripe Invitational has traditionally been an opportunity for the Wolfpack to show its depth and allow its freshmen another chance to compete.
NCAA competition begins on Nov. 13 with the NCAA Southeast Regional. The Pack will travel to Charlottesville, Va., in search of qualifying spots for the NCAA Championships. The top two teams from the regional will earn automatic bids for the NCAA Championships.
NC State will conclude its season at the 2015 NCAA Cross Country Championships in Louisville, Ky., on Nov. 21. Last season, the women's team made an NCAA record 28th appearance at the national competition and finished 16th overall, while Sam Parsons qualified as an individual on the men's side.
