NC State dropped a 2-0 decision at No. 25 Notre Dame on Friday night at Frank Eck Stadium.
Ryne Willard led the way with a 3-for-4 performance. Logan Ratledge submitted the other multi-hit effort for the Pack (20-15, 8-10 ACC), his 19th of the season, going 2-for-3 with a walk. Preston Palmeiro and Bubby Riley supplied one single each. Notre Dame (25-11, 10-9) mustered just three hits, but collected six walks to escape with the win.
Cory Wilder (2-5) took the loss on 3 1/3 innings pitched, allowing one earned on one hit with five walks an one strikeout. Travis Orwig was the first arm out of the Wolfpack bullpen, retiring the first five batters he faced, finishing with one earned on two hits and a walk over four innings, fanning one. Will Gilbert pitched a hitless final 2/3 after entering on a full count in the eighth and recording his lone strikeout on one pitch.
