No. 31 NC State Ready for ACC Slate

RALEIGH, N.C. - The No. 31 NC State men's tennis team opens its ACC portion of the schedule against No. 19 UNC-Chapel Hill on Fridayand No. 12 Virginiaon Saturday.
The Pack will travel to Chapel Hill, N.C., Friday, March 6for a 3 p.m.match at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center before returning home on Saturday, March 7 for a 3 p.m.contest against the Cavaliers at the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center.
Coach's Comments:
"We always have a great match with UNC. They beat us last year in a match that came down to the final set and we beat them two years ago. It's going to be another really good match. The rivalry is very strong. Our guys look forward to going over there and playing. It's going to be a lot of fun." - Head Coach Jon Choboy
Scouting the Tar Heels:
No. 19 UNC-CH enters the match with an 11-5 record. The Tar Heels have five players ranked among the ITA singles polls. No. 10 Brayden Schnur leads UNC in the rankings, while No. 86 Robert Kelly holds an 11-1 record for the Heels.
In doubles, Oystein Steiro and Esben Hess-Olsen are the lone ranked doubles team with a No. 34 ranking.
The Heels are coming off a pair of wins against No. 34 Minnesota and The Citadel.
Scouting the Cavaliers:
UVA enters the weekend with a 7-2 record. All 10 of its players have seen action in the dual season and none have more than one loss this season. Virginia will face off against No. 20 Wake Forest on Fridaybefore playing the Wolfpack on Saturday.
Virginia boasts four players who are ranked in the ITA singles' polls, including the No. 1 Thai-Son Kwiatkowski and No. 2. Ryan Shane, who have split time between the top positions in the lineup. They are a combined 12-1 on the season.
In doubles, Virginia has two ranked teams. No. 54 Mac Styslinger and Kwiatkowski and No. 55 Luca Corinteli and Shane both have 5-1 records to lead the squad.
Record Watch:
In career singles victories, Austin Powell has collected 84 wins to occupy fifth place, while Robbie Mudge is now in seventh place with 74 singles wins.
Two wins this weekend from Powell would put him into a tie for fourth place with John Sadri. Mudge would pass Jamie Pulgar and Andy Andrews and move into sixth place with two wins.
Promotions:
Saturday will be Children and Families' day. There will be a bounce house as well as face painting.
Last Time Out:
On Monday, NC State returned home after 43 days on the road to defeat UNCW, 6-1. The Pack earned its 10th win of the season and defeated its fourth-straight opponent. In the win, Simon Norenius earned his ninth straight victory.
